Far Beyond

Far Beyond is the gathering of many years of playing and composing by the group’s Chilean born leader Fabian Hevia. The music draws from the rich musical tapestries of South America and the influences of Jazz. Far Beyond combines the talents of:

Fabian Hevia – percussion & guitar
Paul Cutlan – saxophones, flute & clarinets
Gary Daley – piano & accordion
James Greening – trombone & pocket trumpet
Ben Hauptmann – guitars
Sandy Klose – bass

Collectively, these great musicians bring a unique vibrancy to Fabian’s Latin laced and intimate compositions.

Presented by Bungendore Wood Works Gallery, Artsound FM and Cafe Wood Works Gallery

Fabian is a highly sought after player and teacher of the wide percussive spectrum of instruments and is certainly no stranger to Bungendore, the Wood Works Gallery and Café Wood Works.

He first appeared here with pianist Kevin Hunt and Cellist David Pereira as the opening performance of the 2003 Spring Into Jazz Series at the Gallery with Kevin on Piano, David on Cello and Fabian on the Kahon; and then as part of the Don Burrows/George Golla septet in the new Bungendore School Hall.

For many years Fabian’s incredible percussion skills have been utilized to great advantage by Australia’s foremost Jazz groups and then primarily as percussionist in the Australian supergroup Wanderlust, and it was wonderful to welcome him back to Bungendore last year reforming with Miroslav Bukowsky’s  Wanderlust in Café Wood Works.

Fabian is also one of the world’s finest tutors of the many percussive instruments he is master of. His Tambou titled workshops are heavily patronized by musicians.

Now he fronts his new group Far Beyond, with an exciting blend of South American Rhythm and jazz that is highly lyrical, exciting and a feast for the ears.
